The state of Maine, which currently holds the 21st position in the list of most connected states in the United States, has more than 80 internet providers at present. Yet, approximately 94,000 customers in Maine still have no access to a reliable wired internet service that constantly delivers a minimum internet speed of 25 Mbps.
Another point to note is that about 162,000 residents of this state have access to only a single internet service provider, which means that these customers do not enjoy the luxury of switching their provider if they are not satisfied with their offerings.
Despite all these pressing concerns, more than 90 percent customers in the state of Maine are currently under the subscription of an internet service that guarantees a minimum and constant internet speed of 25 Mbps. On the other hand, 10.5 percent of Mainers have access to a broadband internet service that delivers an impressive internet speed of 100 Mbps or faster.
When we take wireless coverage factor into consideration, the numbers are just okay. 99.4 percent of Mainers are able to enjoy mobile broadband service while only 47.6 residents have access to a fixed wireless service.
